Auroville – In this great city people live without politics, religion and money

When you read this you are probably thinking of a long time ago, but that is not the case. There is still a place to live that as a community does not follow the standards we are used to.

In this city there is no money, no religion and no politics. It is truly a paradise to live in. You may now be dreaming about a place where you can finally live in peace. This place really exists and is called “Auroville.”

The city was founded in 1968 and “recognized” as an international city by UNESCO, with residents of more than 50 different nationalities and cultures. They exist without any problem, as they have no political system, no religion, and moreover they do not use money and obtain their necessities through barter.

Auroville is located in southern India, 150 km from Chennai in Madras.

In this city, the buildings are based on experimental architecture, they are constantly changing. This is because these buildings strive to optimize the use of renewable energy and their main objective is recycling.

The person who founded this beautiful city is: Mirra Alfassa , better known as ‘Mother’.

“There should be a place on earth that is not claimed as property by any people or nation; where all men of good will, who have a sincere aspiration, could live freely as citizens of the world, obeying only one single authority, that of the highest truth. A place of peace, harmony and tolerance where all the fighting instincts in people are used exclusively to overcome their suffering, weaknesses and ignorance and overcome their limitations and inability. A place where the needs of the soul and progress take precedence over the gratification of desires and passions or the pursuit of pleasure and material entertainment”, that was the idea of Alfassa.

From this assumption, we now have this great international city.

This city sets itself up as a model of a sustainable eco city. With its 15 farms over an area of 160 hectares, they provide the population with sufficient food.

50 villagers and 300 neighbors work on the farms, producing 2% of the rice and grains eaten and 50% of the fruit and vegetables.

They are also self-sufficient in milk and dairy products, and seasonal fruits.

Although it is not the only city to use this model, Auroville is special because it is protected by UNESCO and because it is a good example of what our way of life will be in a few years’ time, when the earth suffers the consequences of its will show abuse.

Health, mental and physical is one of the principles of this city.

We have nothing more to add and hope that all will follow suit. Would you agree with this way of life?
