If you don’t love and honor yourself with every fiber of who you are, if you have trouble recognizing your strength and passion, if you could use more playfulness and simplicity in your life, then it’s time for an inner revolution. Then it’s time to claim the energy of your Warrior Goddess.
As women, we are trained to seek our wholeness and worth and find love through others. Fifty years ago, we were told that a man and children would complete us, and that was about our only option. Meanwhile, a love, a career or even following a self-chosen spiritual path can give us value. We rarely think of ourselves as perfect as we are. We often base our worth on who loves us and who doesn’t, whether we still need to lose those extra five or fifty pounds, and how we can do three tasks at once with a smile on our face.
The revolution of the new woman is a true evolution: from a focus on others to a focus on your own inner self. When our attention is caught in a fearful ‘should’, ‘what if’ or ‘shouldn’t’, we disperse our energy and struggle with what really suits us. But when we shift focus and discover who we really are inside (not who we would like to be, or how we think we should be), we embark on a sacred journey of transformation into our innate, authentic, in-body power.
That is the way of the Warrior Goddess.
Warrior energy is a combination of focus, dedication, purpose and determination. Consciously combining those elements gives you strength. When you use your Warrior energy, you are confident, clear and you give one hundred percent of yourself in everything you do.
Goddess energy is your creative flow: unconditional love, pleasure, passion and wisdom. When you claim your Goddess energy, you happily accept and respect yourself and listen to your sacred, inner voice.
Let’s start at the beginning.
Giving up wrong beliefs and stories
Ironically, the first step on this road is not about gaining some insight or a new state of being. It does require that you let go of some things that you have been holding onto for a very, very long time. If you want to follow a path of transformation, you must be willing to give up false beliefs and stories that limit you.
A story is something you tell yourself and others to explain why you are the way you are. Such a story can be inspiring, but also miserable or reproachful. Your story can bring you energy and enthusiasm, but it can also make you feel helpless, a victim, or angry and reluctant. The stories we tell that limit our expression and joy are full of false beliefs and attachments that do us no good. What you need to ask yourself is this: Is my story causing internal or external drama, or is it bringing me peace and fulfillment?
An inner voice that says, “I’m not smart enough,” “I’m not pretty enough,” or “I’m not outgoing enough,” is prompted by erroneous ideas that form the bed of the limiting belief structure we hold onto. Many people have been telling themselves those stories for so long that they no longer recognize them as stories: they accept them as facts. But nothing is less true!
When you are ready to let go of your limitations, the first step is to let go of the belief that you are a victim or a martyr. If you consider yourself powerless and helpless or think that you have to be something you are not in order to be accepted, these stories determine how you live and how you define your reality.
It’s time to get rid of all the masks or protective shields you hide behind so that you can experience the world in all its fullness. You have to let go of the past with open hands and surrender to the future. But most importantly, be willing to give up who you think you are in favor of who you really are.
Shall we prime you to become your beautiful, powerful self?
In mythical hero stories, a single man sets out to seek his fortune, fight evil, save a few women and show how strong he is against all kinds of obstacles he encounters.
In the modern tale of the Warrior Goddess as heroine, a single woman sets out to find herself, fight against fear and doubt, reclaim her energy and vivacity, and demonstrate the power of her compassion and ardent love.
As twenty-first century heroines, on our journey to free our true selves, we must overcome a multitude of obstacles and defeat endless demons. We live in a time when stress, self-loathing, self-blame, and addiction are common, and where sexual, emotional and physical abuse is far too common.
Of course, we can count ourselves lucky that our grandmothers and mothers have already paved the way for women’s emancipation and personal freedom in the outside world, fighting for things like voting rights, equal treatment in the workplace, etc. Yet many women are still chained because they try to conform to standards, beliefs and ideals that are not their own.
You are about to find out who you really are and what you really want. Armed with that knowledge, you can create an external reality that matches your inner, authentic self.
In their book Style Statement: Living Your Own Design , authors Carrie McCarthy and Daniella LaPorte write that life becomes problematically dull when we can’t look within, when we lose touch with our own sense of what feels right or wrong. When you put yourself on a diet that is full of ideas of success and happiness and that is concocted by someone else, your true character starves and you make poor choices about what you allow into your life or what you bring out.
It takes courage to shift from a focus on others to a focus on yourself. It’s easier to follow what you know, to stay safe with the familiar. In the way of the Warrior Goddess, however, there is no standard template, no role model to follow, no brave knight to save you, and no enlightened master, loving guru or powerful shaman to show you who you really are in the blink of an eye.
You make this journey alone, although you are surrounded by helpful sisters and brothers. You turn your gaze inward, clearing away all the debris, noise, stagnation, and dullness to reveal the radiant jewel within you. What’s great is that it’s never too late to become your real self. And that’s exactly what our planet needs right now: you, one hundred percent.
All over the world, women are making an effort to give space to their authentic, creative, unique selves. We are throwing off the old faded cloths of war, domination, competition, jealousy and oppression. We rise like the sun and shine big and bright like the full moon. We welcome the power of love, compassion, unceasing authenticity and vulnerability. Those are the attributes of our Warrior Focus, and of our Goddess Joy.
Claiming that feminine authenticity does not make you ‘better’ evolved than men, nor does it make you better than our sisters who live as instructed rather than from their essence. As humans, we are all equal and precious.
We are all complete. However, we sometimes get so lost in the fog of our limiting beliefs that we need a guide to bring us back to the light of unconditional love for ourselves and self-acceptance.
