Grounds – A New Light on Basic Spiritual Skills

It is one of the first things we learn as soon as we start somewhat on the ‘spiritual path’: grounding, also called grounding. We learn to make a connection between our base chakra or our feet and the earth. We visualize roots, pipes or cords. We learn to work with our chakras,deal with our sensitivity and we may move further and further down the spiritual path. And then suddenly someone crosses our path and asks: ‘how is your grounding?’ And we think, ‘oh grounding, that’s from way back when I was just starting out’.
So no. I write these sentences with a wink, as through my own process I have been repeatedly confronted with the importance of grounding and being present in your body and in the moment. Sometimes frustrating, but always true. It is now my firm belief that grounding is an ongoing process and one of the most beautiful things to do. As you grow spiritually or personally, it is imperative that your grounding grows with you .

groundsAs we develop further, we can carry more light in our body. A larger part of our soul, our spirit can reside in our body and energy field. We cannot possibly carry our full energy in the body we have now, but we can bring more and more of our light, of our energy into our body and energy field. However, energy is always in motion, so it needs a place to go. The energy can only enter your body if there is a good connection with the earth.

You then literally become a channel for the energy that can flow from the cosmos through you to the earth. If there is no or limited connection with the earth, the energy cannot flow and it will feel very uncomfortable.On this, your higher self will then decide to reduce the energy supply so as not to make it too overwhelming. What happens when you are well grounded? A good grounding means that you are present in your body and that you have an energetic connection with the earth through your base chakra and your foot chakras.

But when you are not present in your body, no matter how strong, open and well connected your grounding cord is, it is still difficult toyou have to deal with on a daily basis from other people and from your higher self. It’s like having the equipment but not being able to push the ‘on’ button. It’s there, but it doesn’t work.

meditation-earthen-grounds meTo actually be a connection between the cosmos and the earth, it is necessary to be energetically present in your body. An important way to achieve this is to become aware of how your body feels and to set your intention to completely fill your body with your consciousness. From there you can then turn your grounding cord ‘on’ without any problems.

The beauty of this full grounding is that you have full access to your own energy, access to your power and your wisdom. You are literally standing firmly in your shoes. In this situation it is much easier to literally let the energies, emotions and thoughts of others slide past or through you. You are not easily thrown off balance.

From my own experience I can say that when I am out of balance, it almost always means that I am no longer fully present in my body energetically. Often I hover somewhere around my head, thoughts that go round and round but find no way out. Logical, because the way out there, the connection to the earth, is not accessible from there.

When I notice this and consciously bring myself back into my lower body, I am able to feel my strength again. The thoughts that used to be life-sized (after all, I was in the middle of them), are now just thoughts that were unfounded. From the new, grounded situation I can look at things with a clear view.

I realize that the process of grounding and being present in your body – and with that being present in the now – is a continuous process. The grounding that is good today to ground my energy today may be inadequate tomorrow due to the new energies that have become available. At a time when the changes are happening almost daily and we are very quickly raising our vibration and learning to carry more of our light, one of the most supportive things we can do is continuously developing our grounding.

It gives stability, firmness, and enjoyment of life. After all, how nice is it to stand firm in yourself and to be able to let all the chaotic things around you slide past you?

Sometimes there are blocks that prevent us from being fully present. Through unpleasant experiences in the past, some have learned that it is nicer to be outside our body than to be present in our body. Or there is a reluctance to ground because we don’t really want to be on Earth or not completely.

After all, it can be a harsh reality here compared to Home. However, in order to manifest our full potential on Earth, it is necessary to ground completely. The way there is through fully accepting life on Earth. It was a conscious choice of your soul . If you can heal the resistance, doors will open and life here may become more beautiful than you ever dreamed.
