The term ” Ascended Masters” refers to those souls who are said to have, after many incarnations and life experiences, mastered their lessons of the physical realm dealing with the balancing and play of emotions, then ascend –
return to higher consciousness of thought and light . They have chosen to serve planet Earth in its ascension process as the mass consciousness evolves into its natural state of being.
Ascended Masters speak/channel to us – through synchronicities, dreams, meditations, art, music, other aspects of the creative mind – the intuitive side of the brain – the right brain – also known as the feminine side. Ascension means a return to the higher frequencies that we think of as a return to the feminine aspects of our soul.
Connecting with an Ascended Master is where we go to access the higher knowledge that we don’t understand is inherent in us.
They are a resource from which we can draw when we wish to activate this higher knowledge within us. We search through sound, light and color and then connect with this ‘master’ through frequency.
One definition of an Ascended Master is an individual who has undergone the process of ascension. Throughout history there have been stories of these individuals attaining a higher state of spiritual consciousness and putting themselves at the service of humanity.
An understanding of an Ascended Master stems from the teachings of Theosophy initiated by Helena Blavatsky.
In Theosophy, and various descendants and offshoots of Theosophy, the Ascended Masters are a group of spiritually enlightened beings who were once mere humans who have undergone a process of spiritual transformation.
According to these teachings, they remain attentive to the spiritual needs of humanity and act as overseers of their spiritual growth. In this they can be compared to the Great White Brotherhood or Secret Leaders placed by various magical organizations; and further afield, with the bodhisattvas of Buddhism or the saints of Catholic and Orthodox Christianity.
Origin of Ascended Masters
One idea may actually originate with Edward Bulwer-Lytton, who in his satirical book “The Coming Race” posited the existence of “nine unknown men” who secretly ran things in the world.
Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, the founder of the Theosophical Society, was a big Bulwer-Lytton fan and may have decided that he was presenting true facts disguised as fiction.
Or she may have received the concept from the Masters from her correspondence with the Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor, a mystic lodge that offered a correspondence course in esoteric doctrine.
Blavatsky promoted the existence of Ascended spiritual leaders through her activities, which included channeling messages from beings she called “Mahatmas,” especially her spirit guide “Koot Hoomi” or “Kuthumi.” From these principles, her successors in the Theosophical Society leadership, Annie Besant and especially Charles Leadbeater, developed the mythology of Ascended Masters, elaborating many of their supposed biographies and past lives.
Leadbeater’s 1925 book, “The Masters and the Path,” marked the crystallization of the traditions that had gathered around the concept of the Ascended Masters in a published public form.
The belief in Ascended Masters is among the Theosophists and followers of the I AM movement, the Temple of the Presence, and Elizabeth Clare Prophets Church Universal and Triumphant.
The occult organization, Servants of the Light, claim to have had contact with an Ascended Master. Many New Age channelers regularly speak of the Masters and take for granted that they exist.
The Great White Brotherhood
In some versions of the doctrine, the Ascended Masters are a college, the “Great White Brotherhood,” referring to advanced spirituality rather than race – very similar to “Gandalf the White” after his victory over the Balrog in the Lord of the Rings . In fact, most early reports describe them as being of the Tibetan or Hindi race, not Anglo-Saxon.
The belief in the Brotherhood and the Masters is an essential part of the syncretic* teachings of these various groups. Several important spiritual leaders such as Jesus, the Prophet Muhammad, the Virgin Mary and Quan Yin, the compassionate bodhisattva, take their place alongside magical or alchemical personalities such as Count St. Germain and other mystical celebrities such as Kuthumi,
Reincarnation is a prominent feature of some group teachings about the Ascended Masters. According to the Summit Lighthouse, the Ascended Master Kuthumi had also incarnated as a number of historically significant individuals, including Pharaoh Thutmose III, the Philosopher Pythagoras, Saint Francis of Asissi, The Magus Balthasar, and Shah Jahan. Several of the other Masters are said to have had similar famous careers of incarnation.
One of the most interesting beliefs about ascension is the concept of “ascension bloodlines”. According to the Gnostic traditionit is said that ascension only happens after a few dedicated lifetimes that directly support the ascension process. If an individual ascends and leaves daughters, the daughters are said to be able to procreate through free will rather than through the process of sex.
The ascension process is said to run through the genetic line for seven generations and give the women the ability to give birth through the Immaculate Conception to the offspring that will arise. The priestly class in various cultures was said to guard the bloodlines to ensure that all descendants would be resurrected. This belief is based on the many accounts in mythology and spiritual history of individuals who were born (Jesus, Mithra, etc.
