How can you free yourself from this deep-seated unconscious identification with pain that creates so much misery in your life?
At the root of this lie the fundamental selfish patterns: the need to be right and, of course, that another is wrong, that is, the identification with mental points of view. Added to this is the ego’s need to have a periodic conflict with something or someone in order to reinforce the sense of separation between ‘I’ and ‘the other’, which the ego cannot do without for its survival.
There is also the accumulated emotional pain of the past that you and every human being carry within, both your personal past and the collective pain of humanity that goes way, very far back. This ‘pain body’ is an energy field within you that occasionally takes over as it needs to experience more emotional pain to feed on and recharge itself. It tries to control your thinking and make it very negative. It likes your negative thoughts because it has the same frequency and can feed on it that way. It also provokes negative emotional responses from those close to you, especially your partner, to feed on the drama and emotional pain that follows.
How can you free yourself from this deep-seated unconscious identification with pain that creates so much misery in your life? Become aware of it. Realize that it is not who you really are and recognize what it is: old pain. Witness it if she rears up in you or your partner. When your unconscious identification with it is broken, when you are able to perceive it in yourself, you no longer feed it and it gradually loses its charge.
Interaction between people can be hell. But also a great spiritual practice.
